excellent game, but...
I finished this first reboot of TR, I have to say it is a great one, but not perfect. first thing I liked about it is how they portrait the lara as a growing character, not a show-off in the past, I prefer this version of her much better; from a scared little helpless girl to a adventurer to overcome all kinds of adversities and survived eventually. It more focused on story than characters.
A lot of games today are focused on just showing how cool the guys are and how hot the girls have been, what they do are just to quickly attract people’s attention and their money, it is a a good practice in a business way but not in great way to make good games. This game differentiate itself from the rest in quite some ways, it developed the story step by step, put the best efforts to make it look graphically beatiful, most importantly, it is a story growing as the characters in it grows, it is not about heroism and fighting goddess but how to survive at the end of each day, not typically another one person saved the world kind of a heroic game or story.
Sceneries are beautiful and breath taking, it shows everything in wide angle and in real time, it snows one time in the day and is raining another when you revisit the same location. I prefer the height it shows especially when you use the rip line, it has that similar feeling when you watch the movie "falcon castle” by clint eastwood…
censorship is just right, it shows appropriate amount of blood and violence during the actions, it makes it look more realistic to life; censoring too much or too less or making it over the top just does not appeal to me when talking about making good and decent movies, tv series, games, etc.
the only drawback to me about this game is just that it lacks replay value compared to the first parasite eve and resident evil series. Once you finished it, there really is not much worths playing through again, please do not make it like a fastfood hamburger, make it into a "delicious meal", people will want to try it again, that is how to make a good game, how to milk the cow, a money making cow, not a cow will be dried out.
hope the team made the game keeps the hard work in a good and old way like they used to back in the late 1990’s. I believe the only way to triumph is to differentiate yourself from the majority, be one of many lead the tide; do not copy and paste and follow the flow because it creates nothing new.
